As always, it was a superb week in in Cape Cod. For a bit of a challenge, we suggest rowing the rowboat to the "other" pond. It's quite fun!

  • Best ice cream place: Nauset Light Ice Cream, on RT. 6 in N. Eastham (a block away from the post office & Ben and Jerry's) This place is less crowded then Ben & Jerry's, serves larger scoops, (yum) and is very good quality ice cream.

  • Best chocolate place: The Chocolate Sparrow in Orleans. A chocoholic's paradise.

  • Beaches: We often to to Head of the Meadows beach in Turo. It's a pleasant drive and never crowded - perfect for body surfing!

If you prefer warmer water, we suggest a "bay side" beach such as First Encounter beach in Eastham. For the first time we climbed Doane Rock/ It is 18' high and the trickiest part is getting down!

 

The cottage was wonderful! I think I liked the couch the best. Soooo comfy!

We've had a wonderful week relaxing. We loved the cottage -- it had everything we needed, including a lovely view. The fishing and the bike trails were great. The beaches were beautiful even though the water was a chilly 53 degrees!

We had a wonderful 2 week family vacation. The cottage was just right for our family.

  • Best Swimming: Great Pond

  • Best Ocean Beach: Coast Guard

  • Best beach for kids: First Encounter and Cockle Cove Beach

We enjoyed the rowboats and fishing here, as well as biking, Pirates Cove, seal watching, P-town, lighthouses, Plymouth Plantation, mini-golf, etc., etc.

We had a wonderful fun filled week on the cape and the cottage was the perfect home base. The kids loved fishing from the dock and caught quite a few fish. We went to First Encounter beach one evening at low tide and walked - it was beautiful. Marconi was great for boogie boarding and Head of the Meadow was fun.

 

 

Arnolds has great fried clams and lobster rolls and Nauset Light is the best place for ice cream.

In P-Town you can take a wonderful trip on the Bay Lady II - so relaxing and beautiful and Arts Dune Tours are worth doing.

 

Hopefully we'll be back next summer.

We thought the cottage was great! This was our (first) visit to Cape Cod and we will be back. The pond is great for little swimmers. Our kids (3 and 4) enjoyed First Encounter Beach and we liked Nauset Light. Our best meal was at Moby Dick's (worth the wait) in Wellfleet. We also enjoyed Mayflower in P-Town. Nauset Light has the best ice cream. The bike trails are great even for little ones. We are planning to make Cape Cod a summer tradition and thank you for opening your cottage to us! It is delightful!
